Education at Ollin Farms

Where Kids Learn by Doing — Right on the Farm

At Ollin Farms, kids don’t just learn about farming — they get to be part of it. Our youth education programs turn a real, working farm into a place of exploration, curiosity, and hands-on discovery. Led by longtime educator and farmer Kena Guttridge, children dig into soil, harvest food, observe ecosystems, create, and explore big questions — all while learning how farms, food, and the natural world are connected.

From preschoolers experiencing farm life for the first time to older students exploring soil science and regenerative agriculture, our programs are designed to be joyful, immersive, and unforgettable.

Our field trips offer students, educators, and community groups an immersive look at regenerative agriculture—where curiosity is encouraged, questions are explored, and learning happens through doing.

Led on the farm itself, these experiences are active, engaging, and tailored to the age and interests of each group. Students don’t just observe—they participate.

Youth Classes- Frequently Asked Questions

Do kids need to speak Spanish to participate in Spanish-themed classes?
No prior Spanish experience is required. Spanish-themed classes are designed to build language skills through hands-on farming activities and play. These classes are welcoming to students who are currently studying Spanish as well as those with no background at all. Kena adapts each class to the kids who are enrolled, ensuring a fun and supportive learning environment for everyone.

What if my child doesn’t fit the suggested age range for a class?
Suggested ages are based on our experience with the activities and our goal of helping kids work well together. That said, just like the farm itself, our classes thrive on collaboration across different ages and skill levels. We are often flexible and encourage you to reach out if you have questions about placement.

Do classes happen rain or shine?
Yes. Farming doesn’t stop for the weather, and neither do we. We adapt activities as needed and have a variety of learning options that can take place under shelter or out of the elements when necessary.

What is your refund policy?
Tuition payments are non-refundable. However, if plans change, tuition may be transferred to a different class during the same season (if space is available) or transferred to another student.
